Meet Professor Samer Humadi
Over 25 years of surgical experience • Consultant Surgeon since 2010 • Specialist in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Complex Abdominal Wall Surgery • NHS and Private Practice
Professor Samer Humadi is a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Complex Abdominal Wall Surgery. He has been a Consultant Surgeon at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2010 and also provides private care at Spire Thames Valley Hospital, The Runnymede Hospital, and The Princess Margaret Hospital.
Professor Humadi specialises in the assessment and surgical management of obesity, gallbladder disease, hernias, acid reflux, hiatus hernia, and a wide range of upper gastrointestinal conditions. He offers both conventional and minimally invasive (laparoscopic) and Robotic surgery, using evidence-based techniques tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
His approach is centred on providing clear information, honest advice and personalised care. He believes that every patient deserves to fully understand their condition and treatment options before making any decisions.
His priority is not simply to recommend surgery, but to recommend the treatment that offers the best outcome for each individual patient. In some cases, that may mean surgery; in others, careful monitoring, lifestyle measures or medical treatment may be the better option.
Alongside his clinical practice, Professor Humadi is actively involved in teaching, training and research. He has published extensively in bariatric and upper gastrointestinal surgery and regularly contributes to the education of surgeons in training. His academic work ensures that his patients benefit from modern surgical techniques supported by the latest evidence, while his primary focus remains delivering safe, compassionate and high-quality patient care.
“Successful surgery is about more than performing an operation. It is about listening carefully, understanding each patient’s goals and concerns, and providing personalised care before, during and long after treatment.”
My Philosophy of Care
Every patient is unique, and there is rarely a single treatment that suits everyone. My role is to listen carefully, understand your concerns and expectations, and work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan.
I believe that patients should never feel rushed or pressured into making decisions. My aim is to provide clear explanations, honest advice and evidence-based recommendations, giving you the confidence to choose the treatment that is right for you.
Whether your treatment involves surgery or not, my commitment is to support you throughout your journey with compassion, respect and the highest standard of care.
